Thank you for your interest in participating in the Champion Insights study! This focused research initiative is designed to better understand why certain populations, such as military personnel, elite athletes and first responders are diagnosed with ALS at higher rates than the general public. Champion Insights is led by Answer ALS and Augie's Quest to Cure ALS, with research operations directed by the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI).

What to Know Before Enrolling

  • Champion Insights is a natural history study. You will not receive any treatment or medical advice from ALS TDI
  • All data submission can be completed from home
  • All personal information and data will be kept secure
  • ALS TDI does not disclose the identity of our study participants, and all shared data is de-identified

The first step is setting up an account:
  • Create an account and answer a few quick questions to confirm that you are eligible for the program
  • Once your account is created you will receive an email asking you to verify your account
  • After you verify your account, you can login and begin the enrollment process
  • Throughout the enrollment process we will provide more information about program participation and options

Champion Insights
To join Champion Insights, you need to meet a few requirements
Please answer the following questions.
Have you completed or been a member of one or more of the following?
Athletic events:
  • Marathon
  • Ultramarathon
  • Ironman
  • Triathlon
Groups:
  • Professional or Collegiate Athlete
  • Military
  • First Responder

*Diagnoses include Definite, Probable, Lab-Supported Probable, Possible, or other MND (e.g., PLS)
**It is important to be able to understand the consent form completely to obtain proper consent.
We're sorry! You do not meet the requirements
We're sorry, you are not eligible to join the Champion Insights study at this time. However, you may be eligible to join the ALS Research Collaborative (ARC) Study, for which Champion Insights was based off of. You can find that study at https://www.als.net/arc/.
Enrollment criteria for Champion Insights may expand over time. If you are in the ARC Study and meet expanded criteria in the future, you will be invited to join Champion Insights, and your data will carry over.
